Chase Elliott is well-known for being a great driver; and also because Dale Earnhardt Jr. thinks he looks like Elvis Presley. But when he entered the NASCAR scene, he was known not as Chase Elliott, but as Bill Elliott’s son. It is widely known that Chase holds his father in the highest regards, and he proved it yet again.

Bill Elliott is a name that needs no introduction. The first winner of the Winston Million, 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion, a stock car racing icon, and Million-Dollar Bill are some of the monikers earned by Chase’s father. However, one thing many fans are unaware of is his record for clocking the highest speed in NASCAR to date! The 1988 Cup Series Champ reached 212.809 mph in his Ford Thunderbird at Talladega in 1987, making him the fastest driver ever in NASCAR history.

It is natural that being Chase’s father, Bill has mentored him since before his professional career began. But apart from the love of racing, there is something else too that the duo shares. It turns out that Chase’s original name is William Clyde “Chase” Elliott II, and he is named after his father, William Clyde “Bill” Elliott. The nickname “Chase” was given to him by his godmother.

Chase Elliott fans go into a frenzy over his witty tweet

The 2020 Cup Series champion holds his father in high regard, as is evident from his response to someone on Twitter. A Twitter user recently posted, “Without Googling, Can you name a Famous ‘Bill?'”

Chase, not wanting to pass an opportunity to give homage to his father, posted, “Wild, or awesome. Your call.”

Of course, the fans caught on immediately.
