Chase Elliott was a fan favorite as soon as he stepped into the Cup Series with plenty of people watching him with high expectations. And it’s for good reason because the driver entered the series with a pretty impressive resume.

But the Cup Series Champion is surprisingly humble about his success at a very early age.

We could consider Elliott a driver coming from a privileged family background, being the son of Bill Elliott. But he was quick to prove everyone wrong as he became the youngest Truck Series winner ever (at the time), winning his first race at 17 years old in his rookie year. He later proved himself in the Nationwide series and Cup Series multiple times. Surely, there’s no surprise he’s the most popular driver!

But he’s surprisingly humble about it, as he talked about it on the Brilliantly Dumb Show in 2020 when the question about his resume came up. And Elliott’s response to having a stellar resume was,“[I’ve] Been lucky. I’ve had some had some good opportunities and some good fortunate at certain times, but yeah, hopefully, it grows.”

This is a very humble response from the 2020 Cup Series Champion, especially when accounting for everything he has achieved.

Chase Elliott has been unstoppable ever since he started racing

Of course, he was considered lucky, being the son of Bill Elliott, but as we discussed earlier, he was quick to prove everyone wrong. He became the youngest truck series winner at the time and then won many more races in his rookie season in 2013. He gained enough respect as a driver, which led him to be promoted to the Nationwide Series in his second year of racing in 2014 to drive the No. 9 car for JRM.

And that is when he became the most popular driver.

Elliott won the Nationwide Series title in his first year in the series, becoming the 2014 champion. And with that win, he also got the title of the most popular driver, too. He stayed in the Nationwide Series till 2015. But he got promoted to drive the #24 car in the Cup Series in 2016. He got his first Cup win in 2018 and then won the title in 2020.
