Recently, Chase Elliott participated in a special segment of show and tell. Over here, he talked about a special keepsake from his family that he has always treasured. To be exact, the item in question was a small cross and necklace from his grandmother. He did confess that he broke the necklace a long time ago, but has still kept the cross to this day.

He said, “My grandmother gave me a cross and necklace when I was… I don’t know. It’s probably been a long time. Probably 15 years ago, I don’t know, I was 10 or 11 or somewhere in there. I broke necklace off long time ago. My grandmother has since passed away, she was someone that was very close to me and this is something I’ve held onto. A nice symbol of her and what she meant to me, she was someone I was very close to and someone who meant a lot to my life. Just a nice way for me to remember her.”

How did Chase Elliott perform in the NASCAR Cup race at Homestead?

Unfortunately for the Hendrick Motorsports driver, it was a rough day in the office. Although his teammate Kyle Larson won, the best that he could muster, was 14th. To make matters worse for him, he ended up behind teammate William Byron as well. Naturally, he would be disappointed, considering that he and Byron are in the running the the Championship 4.

The good news for him is that there is still one race left to try and win and book his berth. Next on the calendar is Martinsville, and his last chance to automatically grab a Championship 4 slot. Points-wise, he sits in third place, behind Joey Logano and Ross Chastain, with William Byron behind him in 4th. However, the likes of Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney and Chase Briscoe could spoil the party. After all, Larson’s Homestead win changes nothing in the championship.
