It seems like Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon have some work to do before Daytona in terms of ‘team management.’ Because the mood that Chase Elliott is leaving with after the race in Watkins Glen, it’s less than ideal for what the Hendrick Motorsports team wants.
Towards the end of the road course race, defending Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, got into, somewhat of ‘an incident’ with his teammate, which left the man from Dawsonville pretty sour.

Not that Elliott showed it directly or said anything to suggest so on the surface, but the bitterness seeped through in his words with a hint of it on his face.
This was something that was solidified after his very brief answer to a question in the post-race interview. The #9 driver was asked by a reporter how does he adjust to the fact that both of Larson’s wins this year have come at his expense.
“Just offer congratulations and get excited for next week,” Elliott replied.

What did AJ Allmendinger make of the Chase Elliott-Kyle Larson incident?
AJ Allmendinger had the best seat in the house to determine who was to blame in the Chase Elliott-Kyle Larson incident towards the end. Naturally, he was asked about this and what he thinks of ‘the talk’ the duo are due in the coming week.
“The truth? I couldn’t give a crap what they have to talk about. I don’t have to be in a team meeting with them, I don’t have to be teammates with them so I don’t care if they talk to each other,” Allmendinger replied.

The Kaulig Racing driver described how on road courses, something that was also evident quite recently at IMS, the track position is “key“, especially when there are two cars that are on the level field.
In fact, Allmendinger feels he’d have done the same as Larson did to Elliott.

“I thought if I could’ve gotten around Kyle (Larson) on the restart, I’d have won the race, you weren’t gonna get around me either,” he added.
