Chase Elliott will get another opportunity to experience dirt racing action before he gets down to his title defense. The 25-year-old will compete in the opening race of the USAC National Midget Championship this weekend.

Elliott recently took to racing in the prestigious 2021 Chili Bowl and thoroughly enjoyed it. Considering there is also a Cup Series dirt race planned this season, the midget race gives him a platform to sharpen his dirt racing skills.

The Hendrick Motorsports No.9 will partner with the CB Industries team to compete in the upcoming event. Safe to say, team owner Chad Boat was pleased in securing the association with the 2020 Cup Series champion.

Chase Elliott was looking to do ‘little bit more’ before 2022 Chili Bowl, said Boat

Boat said, “I’ve been talking to Chase ever since he started doing a little bit of midget stuff. After Chili Bowl, he was looking to do a little bit more to get ready for Chili Bowl in 2022.”

Elliott will take to the wheel of CB Motorsports’ No.84 entry, teaming up with the competition’s 2020 champion, Chris Wisdom. Having made his first dirt race appearance in the Carolina Midget Showdown last year, the race at Bubba Raceway Park will represent Elliott’s USAC midget racing debut.

“I think it just made sense with us being down here close to what he’s doing for his other work. It just made sense for him that it would be a good place for him to come over and do it.”

Elliott has not shied away from racing events during the off-season period

With a curious nature to explore various motorsport disciplines, this will be Elliott’s fourth racing event since the NASCAR ‘off-season’ began. First off, he competed in the Snowball Derby, where he placed third in the short track racing event.

He then tried his luck in the 2021 Chili Bowl and endured a decent debut tournament. Very recently, he even experienced the grueling Rolex 24 at Daytona for the first time too.

Therefore, all these would only strive to help Elliott when he finally starts his championship title defense at the upcoming Daytona 500. Rest assured, he will look to use all the skills he learned from these past events in NASCAR as well.
