Chase Elliott is one of those NASCAR champions who chose to cut short the title celebrations and focus on further improving his skills. Not just that, the reigning NASCAR Cup champion tried his hand at different racing disciplines, something he had not done before.
Over the last few weeks, Elliott has been very vocal about how much he has learned over the two-plus months of the off-season. However, with that, he also ‘got humbled’ really fast in just a few days since his NASCAR title win at Phoenix Raceway.
Elliott’s first assignment of the off-season was the Snowball Derby, an event he has won twice in the past. This time, though, he found himself in a tough spot, having to run the ‘Last Chance Race’ to qualify for the main race.

From basking in the glory of his championship win, Elliott soon found himself facing the stress of racing again. The 25-year-old also expressed how much he enjoyed the different challenges.
Chase Elliott ‘got humbled’ at the Snowball Derby
“I want to keep racing more outside of NASCAR for sure. I’ve had a lot of fun this winter. And I’ve been challenged a lot this winter,” Elliott said in a recent interview.
“Very humbled. You get to Phoenix and then you’re on top of the world. Then go to the Snowball Derby and have to run the Last Chance Race. Got humbled fast,” he expressed.
After the Snowball Derby, Elliott also participated in the Carolina Midget Showdown, the Chili Bowl Nationals, and the prestigious Rolex 24. All experiences were quite tough for him, but he gained what he wanted to from all of those races.

Elliott is not done yet, though. He will participate in the USAC Midget racing event at Bubba Raceway later in the week. The event will be his final race outside of NASCAR before his title defense kicks off.
For Elliott, he is highly motivated to get better at midget dirt racing and feels the best way to do it is with more time on the race track.

At the Rolex 24 last weekend, Elliott impressed his teammates and others with his performance. He had a disappointing first run in the sports car, in his own assessment. However, he soon showed that he had learned from his experiences in the following runs.
