When the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series kicks off, there will be a few new tracks to race on. Among them is the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt track. Since this is a new experience for nearly every driver, they are all excited, but none more so than Chase Elliott.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver enters the 2021 campaign as the reigning champion. However, this also means that he will have plenty of drivers chasing after him. Recently, the #9 driver spoke about the calendar for the coming season and discussed the Bristol race.

He said, “The one that’s the most interesting to me is the Bristol dirt race. We’ve all seen road courses and that’s a big topic.

“We’ve seen a road course race before, but we haven’t seen a Cup race on dirt. Especially a dirt race that’s that long. I felt like Eldora was a shorter event and a little different, so I’m just curious how the logistics are going to work.”

What else did Chase Elliott say?

The 25-year-old admitted that he cannot see NASCAR installing windshields or fenders on the dirt cars. He acknowledged that these things may work in the Truck Series, but it will be difficult if there is mud thrown on the windshield. Obviously, the weather will be a massive concern, but as long as things stay dry, there should not be an issue.

If there is one thing he learned from racing at Eldora, it is that the cars won’t run too fast. All in all, the fans should expect a good show. In addition to that, there is a high risk of collisions, likely due to the lack of grip on the dirt.

At the end of the day, the drivers hope that they will get a good and clean race at the track. Meanwhile, Chase Elliott will have to watch over his shoulder, as his title win has now made him a big target.
