In fact, Jimmie Johnson sits among the greatest of the sport, along with Dale Earnhardt, and Richard Petty. However, Johnson was not one of the best in the sport when he started off. Despite that, he landed a ride with Hendrick Motorsports and surely didn’t disappoint. Notably, Chase Elliott also shed light on what made Jimmie Johnson the man he is.
Elliott is easily a name fans associate when talking about the best drivers in the league. In fact, the Hendrick driver and 2020 Cup Series Champion is also the points leader right now. But of course, like most other NASCAR drivers, he had humble beginnings, and a part of those was racing alongside the sport’s greatest driver of the time.
A recent episode of NASCAR on FOX’s “You Kids Don’t Know” talked about Jimmie Johnson. Moreover, Chase Elliott came to talk about the major difference between the two. Spoiler alert, it’s all about communication!

Elliott said, “Early on when I started to sit in meetings and listen to him talk, I’d be sitting in a corner and I’m like, I feel this sensation and I wanna explain it but I have this long-winded answer that just is too complicated for anyone to understand”.
Now, he explained the thing that blew him away, “And then it’s Jimmie’s turn and he’s like hey this is the exact sensation I’m feeling that” He added, “He can just put it such simple terms and I’m like alright you need to go first every week. Because it was amazing, it was something that really blew me away”.

Chase Elliott Reveals His Worst-Ever Date
Chase Elliott talks about “a particular female that wanted to go to a regional Baseball game”. And, that was supposed to be a date! However, things didn’t quite work in Elliott’s way.

He talks about how he offered to get the tickets and meet her at the stadium when he said, “I’ll get the tickets and meet you there”. However, she insisted to get the tickets herself as she said, “No I’ll get the tickets”. A surprised Chase Elliott said, “It was in her hometown, maybe she knows somebody, you know?”.
But, things turned the other way around as a suspicious Chase Elliott said, “Prior to the game, how I got the email with the tickets.” His suspicions came true as he added, “Come to find out, I watched like half the game by myself”.

In the end, it’s no surprise that a great communicator will make a great race car. And, it seems like Jimmie Johnson’s communication abilities made sure he had a great car for his race after race. Chase Elliott seems to have learned from that incredible ability too.
