In a candid exchange with Savannah from Richmond Times-Dispatch, Chase Elliott shared his thoughts on the upcoming Richmond race. “Heading into Richmond this weekend, what are you excited about? What’s going on?” asked Savannah to Elliott.

“Yeah, I mean, you know Richmond, this was a race I missed earlier in the year so I’m excited to get back up there and run,” said Elliott. “I’ve personally enjoyed going to Richmond. It’s kind of, you know, the racetrack, it’s funny. I tell people all the time it’s the most boring race track ever to drive on. But it is so difficult to get a hold of, and you wouldn’t think that those two things would be in the same sentence, but I guess it’s so simple it’s complicated.”

Talking about his expectations of the upcoming race, Elliott added, “It has become a challenge I think for everyone over the years minus just a couple of guys. I feel like the rest of the field is inconsistent there than I see at any other track we go to. So yeah, it’s always been a challenge for me, always been super hit or miss there. Hopefully, this weekend is more of a hit rather than a miss and we can get out of there with a win.”

Speaking to NASCAR.com, Elliott reflected on the differences from the previous years. He acknowledged the enjoyment of facing new challenges and pushing himself into different aspects of the sport. He highlighted the similarity of his current position with the playoff situation, where each race carries significant weight. Elliott’s determination to seize every opportunity and approach each race as a make-or-break moment speaks volumes about his mental toughness.

“It certainly feels different from last year,” said Elliott. “But I think it has been in some ways enjoyable to find new challenges and kind of push yourself in different areas. It doesn’t really feel a ton different, I guess, than like a playoff run like in the final 10.”

“Like last year we had a good year. So we had a lot of playoff points going into the season. I am glad we did because that got us to Phoenix. But in years that we didn’t, it was about, you had to show up every week and really get in those last 10 if you wanted to advance. And that’s really how it kinda feels now. I have always enjoyed those final 10 weeks just because of that… So it feels very similar to a playoff situation without having many playoff points,” he added.
