Dale Earnhardt Jr. reportedly spent hours watching his father and other racers race in order to understand the sport better. Keelan Harvick will forever be guided by Kevin Harvick in racing, even if Keelan indulges mostly in kart racing. Likewise, even Brexton Busch will strengthen his game on track with active support and advice from his dad, NASCAR icon Kyle Busch, and Uncle Kurt Busch. While a large proportion of NASCAR drivers belong to racing families, Chase Elliott and the Elliotts remain among the very few third-father-son NASCAR champions in history.

Can we even blame them? The thrill of whirring past other cars and feeling the thrum of the engine is an aphrodisiac for many adults too.?Thus, as children outside racing families embark on their path to live their dream, there is a huge possibility that they do not have the right amount of knowledge and guidance about the sport. Well, Chase Elliott went ahead and remedied that. To some extent, at least.

In a conversation with 9-year-old kart racer Grayson Walcott, 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott broke down racing and ways to approach it for kids with just a piece of seven-word advice.?

Chase Elliott’s 7-word advice for his 9-year-old self

Grayson Walcott of Grayson Dean Racing was on a mission to make racing more approachable for kids his age when Chase Elliott happily lent a hand. Elliott’s outpowering of Ryan Blaney at Talladega in 2022 is still etched in people?s minds. His phenomenal win at the 2020 Cup Series Championship at Pheonix Raceway is unforgettable. Elliott started his racing career at the age of 13 and has gathered an ocean?s worth of experience and knowledge that a 9-year-old Elliott would have cherished.

When Walcott asked:??What is your advice for your 9-year-old self? Or just any kid who wants to be a racecar driver. What?s your advice?? Elliott had a crisp 7-word advice that is essentially all-encompassing:

?Being around the sport is important,? said Elliott. He further explains his advice. ?You know, and if you like racing and it?s a passion of yours. Our events feel different when you come and see in person.?

Fans can certainly testify to this. Watching a NASCAR race in person is a completely different experience from watching it on TV. For children who look up to drivers like Elliott for support and inspiration, this seems to be pretty useful guidance. For, unless you are physically present when the race is happening, gauging how to go about the race might be difficult.?

2023 for Chase Elliott has been a roller-coaster so far

The beginning of the season was quite rough for Elliott, given his injury from a snowboarding accident. There was also a suspension he faced from one of the races for the intentional wrecking of Denny Hamlin?s car. While his 2023 season has been nothing like William Byron?s, his performance hasn?t been very poor either. With three consecutive top-five wins, he again bagged the third position in Chicago. In Atlanta, his position dipped to 14th. Ironically, he won last season?s race at Atlanta. Not participating in at least seven races this season has definitely had an impact on his points. Is it time even an adult Elliott sought some racing advice?

However, fans have not lost faith in him, as the Hendrick Motorsports icon is set to make a dashing comeback to the Xfinity Series, starting with the race being held at Pocono Raceway. Will Elliott be able to bag a long-due victory at Pocono? The anticipation keeps escalating.
