If there is one team that has been putting their best foot forward consistently, it’s Hendrick Motorsports. The entire tally of drivers is performing their best this season. And the No.5 driver is leading in the point standings. Of course, he did end up giving the place to Denny Hamlin for a while, but with the win at Sonoma last week, he regained his position faster than a cheetah on the chase!
Right now there are three Hendrick Motorsports drivers in the Top 10, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron, which is no easy feat for a team. Larson and Byron have three wins each. Meanwhile, Elliott has a single win, but he stands second in the standings and is just 14 points behind the No.5!
However, recently, Chase Elliott expressed that he is confident about his and his team’s performance. And he even gave us a glimpse into his winning strategy!

Chase Elliott spills his trick to making it to the top!
All the HMS drivers have been successful so far, and when a team is performing well day in and day out, it does grab attention. As such, questions arise about what the team has done to be here. Everyone wants to know the magic pill to success!
When Chase Elliott was posed the same question by Michael Massie from Frontstretch, he had a straightforward answer. He said, “I just think we have a really solid group top to bottom, and everybody’s been super committed to finding that 1% each week. Whatever that is, it is. Collectively, we’ve been solid. I feel that we haven’t reached our full potential yet, and I think that’s exciting. I think that’s okay too because it’s only halfway through the year.”
Not only do his words show the power of compounding, but they touch on a crucial aspect: a team effort. Each of the team members is performing, and giving their best, and as such, the team is getting stronger. But Chase Elliott didn’t stop here; he shared his strategy for the playoffs that according to him will guarantee an awesome result.
He said, “You want to be good in those last ten and really like the last five. The trick is being good enough to get you to the round of eight and, in your mind, not be spectacular yet. Then really try to be spectacular for those last three or four weeks. It’s really just about having a solid enough base to get you through there and then really try to hit home runs in those last few if you can.”
And they do have a solid enough base right now. Moreover, recently, at Iowa’s sole Cup practice session this weekend, Bowman led the Chevy pack. Chase Elliott secured fifth place, with Kyle Larson and William Byron in 13th and 24th, respectively. It is worth highlighting each one of them finished in the top 12 for their average times over 10 laps.
While they do feel on top of the world, one driver is quickly gaining ground in NASCAR and might become the next big thing. And of all people, Hendrick’s William Bryon acknowledged his significant presence!

And for the last two weeks, he dominated the Xfinity road course races. He won in Portland and even at Sonoma! His performance has caught the eye of Hendrick Motorsports prodigy William Byron. And he, unlike others, hasn’t kept his thoughts on the newcomer hidden. Byron has openly acknowledged that the Kiwi driver has an edge in road courses.
He said, “I do think that he’ll certainly have an advantage on the street course. I think his awareness and feel for the walls and how close he can be is probably the biggest advantage I see. He is very comfortable with that. Even watching him at the Sonoma Xfinity race in eleven, he was really good there compared to other people.”
