William Byron might not have been the luckiest driver at Dover. After hitting the wall during practice, and failing to get the car up to speed at Dover, the #24 car then qualified 33rd for the race and picked 11 positions during the race, finishing 22nd. Unfortunately, he was the only Hendrick Motorsports driver to finish outside of the Top-10.

However, the week is far from bad for the Martinsville winner, as he just got a contract extension! Hendrick Motorsports has given William Byron‘s contract a 3-Year extension, effectively keeping him with the team until 2025! And, he went on to share the news on his Twitter.

This is incredible news for the driver who Kyle Petty describes as the ‘Future’ Of Hendrick Motorsports. And, fellow teammate, Chase Elliott came on to congratulate him.

Chase Elliott Congratulates His Teammate, William Byron, On the Amazing News

Chase Elliott by far has the longest contract with Hendrick Motorsports. In fact, he will stay with the team till 2027. However, William Byron is the Hendrick driver that got an amazing 3-year contract extension. And, the 2020 Cup Series Champion came to congratulate his teammate on Twitter.

It’s great to see teammates celebrating each other’s wins. Although, they had polar opposite weekends, as Elliott was Flying through practice and then won the race; William Byron was struggling and finished the lowest out of all Hendrick drivers. However, at the end of the day, they are both teammates.

To sum it up, this year has been great for Hendrick Motorsports and, despite not having the best weekend, William Byron got a 3-year contract extension. Surely, it’s great news for the #24 car, but will he prove that he’s earned the contract extension at Darlington?
