2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott faces a pivotal juncture in his tumultuous season. As he was plagued by a snowboarding accident and a subsequent suspension, it all seemed to derail his current campaign. Right now he stands on the precipice of a make-or-break moment and needs all the support he can get. But for some reason, NASCAR’s fans weren’t too thrilled about this whole idea.

In addition to that, they even protested against recent support given to NASCAR’s most popular driver. Ironic, isn’t it?

Chase Elliott breaks his silence about the tire woes that forced a dramatic exit

Amidst an already troubled season, the #9 team encountered yet another setback during their recent appearance at Michigan. This event served as an additional blow to Chase Elliott’s misfortunate 2023 season.

In the wild race, reality hit hard as Elliott encountered trouble, grappling with a tire issue that led to the loss of control over his Chevy while navigating Turn 2 at Michigan. The car careened into the outer retaining wall, spelling an early end to his race. Despite running solidly in ninth place, the damage inflicted proved irreparable, compelling him to steer his battered car into the garage.

Following a quick visit to the infield care center, Elliott said during a Thursday video teleconference, “Yeah, I feel good. I hate that it happened. It was really early in the day to have a tire blow like that. It was really weird. It’s a bummer, but not surprised.” He candidly remarked, “Yeah, I mean, I told y’all that the week I got back. So, nothing’s changed.”

Seeing his adversity led Daytona International Speedway to show some love to NASCAR’s Golden Boy. But Elliott seemed to be a lost bet for most fans and followers as many denied him of their sympathy vote.

Chase Elliott’s string of bad luck seems unrelenting, even extending beyond the racetrack. A recent Instagram post from the iconic Daytona track account stirred controversy, featuring a photo of Elliott with the caption, “Give it all you got.”

Fan comments poured in, reflecting a mix of opinions. One commenter expressed frustration, stating, “What about everyone else who could make it? Y’all only care about Chase.” Another remarked, “chase elliott gotta stop.”

Yet, there were supporters too. Defenders of Elliott’s prominence shared their views, with one commenter humorously noting, “Y’all mad ’cause they keep posting him as if he hasn’t been voted most popular driver multiple times in a row. Lmaoo.”

Acknowledging Elliott’s stature, another fan asserted, “Love seeing all these haters asking why they are posting him when he’s literally the face of the sport.” Amid doubts about his performance, a follower pointed out his accomplishments, stating, “Hasn’t won a single road course in the next-gen and you can’t count on Daytona; he blew the points opportunity.”
