Chase Elliott is looking for the momentum that he got after coming back from injury. The reason is, the coming six races have been crucial for him to go for at least a win to solidify his place into the playoff as the intense battle is on between many drivers for that 15th and 16th place. It seems like only points might not confirm his place, so HMS Golden Boy is looking for a win and rightfully so. He has the potential so as his champion team.
Well, his last year’s Pocono run brought him hope of winning this year too, so he and HMS are looking for a victory claiming as a golden opportunity. Moreover, Chase was behind the wheel of Hendrick Motorsports #17 Xfinity car and he impressively finished P3 Saturday. The victory surely gave Chase some confidence for his Sunday Cup run, but are the Cup cars and Xfinity cars that similar?

Hendrick Motorsports runs their part-time entry with the #17 car which was driven by Kyle Larson, Alex Bowman, and William Byron earlier. However, Chase was not present due to his injury, but he has shown his interest in taking the seat for HMS’ number 17 in some of his favorite road courses. Chase said in a pre-race interview at Pocono, “Yeah, the opportunity – Jeff Andrews, Chad (Knaus), Alan (Gustafson) and that whole group at Hendrick Motorsports asked me if I was interested in doing it. I guess the schedule for the car has kind of changed a little bit with HMS entering an Xfinity car.”
Pocono is undoubtedly one of his favorite tracks as per his previous win on the track. he chooses to run the Xfinity car for the team at Pocono. After his impressive Xfinity third-place finish, during an interview, he was asked about the similarities of Xfinity cars compared to Cup Cars and what he learned that might help him in the Sunday Cup race.
Chase replied, “Not a lot honestly, I mean they are so different now, I think rather than just have some wraps of check and maybe some tendencies on restart and lanes, maybe…uh they are just different very very different that is.”

We are not strange about Chase Elliott’s playoff chances as he has to win races to enter in playoffs. But, some think that one of his favorite tracks in the upcoming six races would help him to get that playoff seat as his Pocono run is highly anticipated for him to win. However, Chase himself told that Pocono is one of his favorites and he is looking to seal a victory over Pocono 400. His P3 in Xfinity run further solidify his winning contender-ship. But is it enough?
Surely not. Chase Elliott believes any single magic win will not get them to the final race at Phoenix. But he believes, “That is the position you need to be in to go and have a legitimate shot of winning the actual whole deal. You have one magic racetrack that gets you into the playoffs, that’s not going to get you to Phoenix. You’re not going to ride that miracle all the way through.”

It’s not just that we want to, we’re capable of doing it but we need to go make it happen and that’s where I want to get to and we’re going to keep working really hard to get there and hopefully we can get in the show.”
