The race at Phoenix saw pretty routine stuff and some may even say it was quite monotonous to watch. However, at one instance, Championship contender Chase Elliott found himself facing the wrong way on the track after, Ross Chastain decided to give him a little push from behind. Later, after the race, Elliott did not choose to talk about the Chastain incident in much detail, moreover, when asked if he would carry his grudge over, Elliott refused to do so.

Elliott stated, “Unnecessary. Yes, I would. I would probably say so that there was still room on the track, and we weren’t really close to that inside wall. I was just trying to get to the inside of William (Byron) there. And, you know, once we hit, I just didn’t feel like I ever had a chance to fix it. You know, he just felt like he needed to go ahead and turn me around. So that part of it, I think, is just a bit unnecessary. But nonetheless, I can’t do anything about it now.”

He later added, “I mean. I think he has certainly made it known as to how he’s going to go about his business and I don’t necessarily think today changes any of that. Me sitting around and, complaining about it or whatever. Just doesn’t do any good, you know, so it doesn’t change the outcome. And I recognize that.”

Chase Elliott’s hope for a shot at the 2022 Cup Series Championship ended after he was spun out by fellow title contender mid-race.

During the last 113 laps, Elliott found himself compromised after the watermelon man made sure to dump and spin him around in order to get ahead. The incident did not exactly point fingers at Ross but was rather seen as a racing incident. However, following the spin whatever hopes the Hendrick Motorsport arrived with went down the drain.

Regardless of his race being ruined, Elliott seemed to maintain his composure after the race and did not want to carry his anger towards Chastain into the next season.
