The 2024 season started with good ground for Elliot and Team Hendrick, given that he finished at Atlanta Motor Speedway with an eighth-place standing. Consequently, two races later at the Bristol Motor Speedway, he aced himself again and came as a runner-up to his teammate, Kyle Larson. Despite holding his position through the Round of 12, an unfortunate crash at the Las Vegas Speedway had put him in a tough situation. This is when he had to prove his mettle or lose his standing in the contendership.

Elliott dominated for 81 laps at Homestead-Miami Speedway before securing a fifth-place finish. At Martinsville Speedway, he led an impressive 129 laps but fell just short, finishing second and missing the win he needed to advance. In 2023, Elliott had a snowboarding accident that led to a major pitfall for the driver. However, he made up. His 42 streak of winless races ended with a victory at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Speaking of how it was a morale boost, Elliott said, “I think it was just a nice, validating point of the season for our team and, and the work that we had put in. But truthfully, I’ve gotten as much validation out of races that we were in contention to win and had opportunities to win and maybe one little thing didn’t go our way as I did from actually getting across the finish line first”.

Chase Elliott kicked off the year with an impressive streak of 19 consecutive top-20 finishes and led the Cup Series with 32. This ensured that he outpaced every other driver by three. His average finish of 11.7, was also the highest among full-time competitors.

Speaking of the improvement that he has been showing, Elliott said, “Honestly, I think from my perspective and where I’m at in my career right now is just trying to get more competitive on a weekly basis. And if, if we’re accomplishing my goals and our team’s goals on a week-to-week basis, then I think the championship stuff is going to fix itself. You know, you’re eventually going to get your turn. But you’ve got to keep putting yourself in those positions and I think for us, it’s just about having a little more pace, leading some more laps, being more aggressive”.

As Elliott enters his 10th full-time season with Hendrick Motorsports at the NASCAR Cup Series, it is time for him to salvage his stance and prove his worth, once again. Given that Elliott has already claimed the title once in 2020, achieving the same once again would be an easier task.

Chase Elliott shares his feelings after winning the Most Popular Driver award for the seventh time in a row

Even though Elliott did not win the NASCAR Cup Series title, he did win the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Most Popular Driver Award for the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024. In 2017, Elliott replaced Dale Earnhardt Jr and made it to the award and has since then maintained the streak with 7 victories. He has maintained the legacy of his father Bill Elliott, who won the same from 1991 to 2000 and again in 2002.

After his most recent victory, Elliot said, “They laid the foundation for me to be here and to have some of the opportunities I’ve had throughout my career. I look at it from that perspective more than anything. I’m certainly grateful for the fans across the board. They’ve been great to me throughout my career. I’ve had the fortunate experience of seeing all that and living that first-hand. It means a lot to me. I’ll never take that for granted. I certainly want to try to make those people proud as we move into next year and beyond”.

Elliott’s heartfelt gratitude toward his fans highlights the deep connection he shares with them, transcending the racetrack. As he looks ahead, his focus remains on honoring their support and striving for greater success.
