After a winless 2023 season and a 17th-place finish in the Cup Series, this year was supposed to be a season of redemption for Chase Elliott. However, it hasn’t been a great start. The Hendrick Motorsports driver failed to make the playoffs last season and several fans and insiders predicted him to operate on a different level this year. While the night is still young, Elliott’s recent comments will not instill confidence in his team members or supporters.
Elliott has yet to record a top-10 finish after four races, two of which were won by his teammates. His best result came at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where he finished P12. The driver of the #9 is quite skilled on road courses, so when the COTA race weekend comes around, he will be aiming for a much better result.

In a recent media interaction, Chase Elliott acknowledged that things have not gone to plan and that it will take a while before he finds his form again. One thing he has stressed is patience. When asked how easy it was to be patient given his current form, he said, “As easy as you make it.”
Last season was a different case because of his injury, which saw him miss 6 races. However, this time fans will be expecting a lot more. His dedication to becoming a better driver is a stand-up quality and he will need every last bit of that dedication to turn his season around.
“I think that it’s…for me, I’m a pretty realistic person and I kind of look at things for what they are, probably too much somedays but I think that I recognize that things aren’t just going to get better overnight. I have known that for a period of time now. At the end of the day, I don’t know how many steps there are to gain to where you need to go. I think until you encounter that entire journey, you’re not…I don’t think anyone really knows but I am willing to take however many steps it takes to get there and I think that’s the bottom line of the importance of what matters,” he said ahead of the Bristol dirt race.
The track is one of his all-time favorites. And his stats at the short track suggest he has a good chance of finishing higher up than he has so far this season.

The driver of the #9 car has driven in 14 races at the iconic track so far in his career, winning once, and achieving 5 finishes in the top 5 and 8 in the top 10. His love for the track goes back to when he was a kid and visited the track multiple times for the exhilarating racing action. Recently, Elliott revealed that it was the Bristol Motor Speedway that made him fall in love with racing and inspired him to become a race car driver.
“When I was a kid, Bristol (Motor Speedway) was one of the main reasons I wanted to be a race car driver. That environment was unbelievable. I remember being a kid, going up there, watching the races and they had tickets sold out for like seven years. You couldn’t get a ticket. It was that big of a deal. I mean that’s as good as it gets,” he said as per Yard Barker.
