Following the massive fire that engulfed the car of Kevin Harvick, a fellow driver, Chase Elliott, with whom the former once had a feud, spoke his mind out about the scary incident.

Elliott stated, “Guys like Kevin (Harvick) and those guys who have watched these generational changes and seen these cars change over time, I think they’re more qualified to talk about that stuff and to potentially speak up.”

He added, “I certainly don’t think cars should be catching on fire for not doing anything wrong, not having any damage, not having any engine problems or anything.”

Many drivers and crew chiefs had complaints regarding the fire safety insulations used in these Next-Gen cars, especially after Kevin Harvick’s car combusted coming out of the pit road, as rubber kept accumulating under the car. Harvick was lucky enough to escape the inferno just in time.

In his post-race rant, he said, “We didn’t touch a car and here we are in the pits with a burned-up car, and we can’t finish the race during the playoffs because of crappy-a** parts.”

What was the infamous feud between Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott?

The feud between the two drivers began at Bristol last season when Elliott managed to wreck Harvick during the late stages of the race, which infuriated both drivers to a point that they got into a heated argument right after the race.

However, that incident was not the end of their feud, soon after, during the race at Roval, Harvick made sure to serve Elliott his revenge for the race at Bristol by punting the rear end of the Hendrick Motorsports driver.

The beef between the two drivers got up to a point where NASCAR themselves had to step in between them in order to prevent serious harm and issue a cease-fire.

Even though now it may seem that the feud has died down, things between the two might boil over again very soon.
