Last year at Martinsville, Denny Hamlin apparently received a slew of boos from the crowd. Later on, during the press conference, Hamlin took a dig at those people by calling them “Chase Elliott fans.” However, later on, when Elliott was informed about the dig, the Hendrick Motorsports driver came back with a classy response to the criticism.

Hamlin was asked about the fan reaction that he received despite not doing anything wrong, he stated, “It’s just Chase Elliott fans they’re just, you know, they don’t think straightly.” When asked if it bothered him he stated, “No, not at all. They’re gonna boo the sh*t out of me next week I can tell you that.”
Later on, when Chase Elliott was in the media room, he was told about Hamlin’s comments and asked how he felt regarding the shot taken at his fan base. Elliott responded, “I’m gonna lose so much sleep tonight. Like, I might not sleep at all. That’s how concerned I am. My fans don’t care either, by the way.” Hearing the comments, drivers seated next to Elliott like Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr began laughing at the context.
