Leaving the Ford camp for the Fox commentary booth in 2024 is Stewart-Haas Racing‘s veteran sensation, Kevin Harvick. While the 2014 Cup Series champion is always welcome back to the team, his farewell from the sport is something that has formed a massive void in the team. Even during SHR’s dismal 2023 campaign, Harvick was the only one who carried the whole team on his shoulder, being the only driver to make it past the regular season into the playoffs.

Now with Harvick gone, all eyes are on Chase Briscoe with expectations riding high on the 29-year-old to take up Harvick’s mantle and be the next flag bearer for the team. Reflecting on the new responsibility, Briscoe came out with a revelation, mentioning the veteran as he reacted to his new duty at SHR.

There’s a massive change in SHR with its veteran champion, Kevin Harvick stepping away and retiring from the sport. As the ace driver announced his retirement, Tony Stewart and Co. scrambled to find a worthy replacement and they did so with HMS’ super-sub and Late-Model legend Josh Berry.

To make matters worse, Aric Almirola’s indecisiveness finally ended with a perfect storm as the #10 driver changed lanes to Joe Gibbs Racing, taking up the part-time role as its Xfinity Series driver.

Now, this has got SHR’s #14 driver Briscoe at the forefront with the responsibility to lead the 4-car Ford squadron to the fray. Reacting to it, the driver shared his remarks, revealing his goal in the absence of Harvick. He stated, I’m going to be the senior guy there now and it’s crazy to think like it’s only been 3years in but I’m going to be the older statesman there so, it would be interesting for sure, you know that’s something I’m excited for but at the same time I think that leadership role comes from running at front from week-in, week-out.”

“You know Kevin(Harvick) was the leader at that place because he ran the best so you know on the most consistent basis so for me that’s the biggest thing, I want to be the new Kevin Harvick at Stewart-Haas(Racing),said the 29-year-old taking the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, essentially declaring that he wants to assume Harvick’s position as the leader. Yet, he is to keep a few of his old ways intact, especially his sponsors.
