During the 2024 season, sadness and struggle defined the atmosphere of one Cup Series team. Stewart-Haas Racing, after 16 years of golden achievements, was wrapping up. The fear of uncertain professional futures animated the people at SHR. However, the presence of happy figures like Chase Briscoe may have made things a little easier. We saw evidence of his goofy personality on social media recently.

The Cup Series star is booked for a seat in a premier team next year – Joe Gibbs Racing. But before he achieved this honor, Chase Briscoe endured many hardships throughout his career. So the champ knows how to take it easy – and spread ripples of laughter with a joke on New Year’s Eve.

The Mitchell, Indiana native, has weathered many storms during his racing career. Chase Briscoe grew up racing sprint cars and even defeated 4-time Cup champion Jeff Gordon, becoming the youngest person to win a 410 sprint car race at age 14. Yet he did not have the usual monetary backing that most young racing stars have. But Briscoe persevered – in 2014, he moved to North Carolina, sleeping in friends’ houses and carving out his career from scratch. These struggles molded Briscoe into an affable personality, as the racer has already been through a lot.

We saw a hint of that likable personality on Twitter recently. The Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays are a special time for NASCAR drivers. They get to unwind properly with their families after a long 36-week race schedule. Yet while Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Denny Hamlin publicly post adorable pictures of their daughters on social media, Chase Briscoe is up to something else. He dropped a hilarious joke before the gong struck for 2024’s ending. He professed his dislike for social media, albeit for just a few hours: “Taking a break from social media… I’ll see you guys next year.”

This left fans rolling with laughter. This classic dad joke proves Chase Briscoe’s perpetual lighthearted attitude, and this quality reflects even when things go haywire in his career. At the start of 2020, Briscoe did not have a sponsor, and Stewart-Haas Racing gave him a week to find one.

Yet a chance encounter with Mike Mendiburu of HighPoint.com changed things. Briscoe recollected this story when he almost lost his job quite easily. “So, literally, my career is over. My dad happens to be walking out of this restaurant and turns right. CEO walks out of BMWs and turns left… My dad sends me a picture of the card. And, I send it to SHR. I said, ‘Hey, look, I know we only have a week. My dad just ran into this guy. He is a CEO. Maybe give him a call.”

Presently, Briscoe has come a long way from working for SHR. And the excellent star left fans in a fit of laughter with his X joke.

NASCAR community tickled by goofy joke

Who does not like a nice, light-hearted joke?

While New Year’s Eve may have been celebratory and ethereal for most people, for others, it may not have been ideal. Chase Briscoe turned the atmosphere jovial for both groups with his joke. NASCAR fans and gearheads responded affably to Briscoe’s post. Somebody played along: “NOOOOOOOOOOOO I’M GONNA MISS MY DOSE OF CHASE BRISCOE POSTS!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆”

Another fan took a hilarious jab at Briscoe that his dad joke may be the end of his X presence: “Nah you actually need to take a break after that one 💀”

People added to the fun ambiance. While Chase Briscoe used a clever time to post his social media detoxing promise, a fan talked about sleep postures. They wrote, “Be sure to raise your left leg at midnight, so you can go into the new year on the right foot…”

Chase Briscoe’s goofy personality enthralled others. Briscoe fetched a win, 3 top-fives, and 9 top-tens in 2024, and gave a fitting end to his SHR tenure. And his year-end post was the final trick to seal a fan’s support for him – for the rest of 2024. “That does it. I’m not rooting for you the rest of the year.”

But somebody else actually meant it, wishing him a good one for next season. “Happy New Year Chase cannot wait to see what 2025 brings you.”
