Who could have seen this coming? A seven-time champion has decided to come back from retirement. And NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon wants to let all football fans in on this secret. But wait, this isn’t actually about football. Yes, Gordon was not talking about Tom Brady, but about the seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson!

In a recent video shared by @NASCARONFOX on Twitter, Jeff Gordon was seen taking an intriguing approach to announce Johnson‘s return. He said,

“Hey Football fans, Jeff Gordon here. And I am here to let you in on a major secret. You know that seven-time champion that retired? A lot of you may know him as the GOAT. Well, he is coming back to Florida for one more go at it.”

His words initially seemed to be a reference to the NFL legend and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. However, to everyone’s surprise, Jimmie Johnson walked in beside Gordon. Confirming Gordon’s revelation, Johnson said, “That’s right. I am back, behind the wheel at the Great American Race.”

And this forced Gordon to ask something that almost everyone has in mind. He questioned, “What is it about you seven-time champions? You can’t stay retired!”

Well, that’s true. In June 2022, Brady announced his decision to come back from retirement for the second time. And now, it’s Johnson who has decided to take a U-turn from his retirement. Smiling at Gordon’s question, Johnson quoted Brady and said, “Man, I didn’t come this far to only come this far.”

NASCAR fans are happy to see Jimmie Johnson back

As soon as the video surfaced online, NASCAR fans huddled in to express their excitement. While most NASCAR fans were happy to see Jimmie Johnson back behind the wheel at Daytona, many others hoped to see the driver win a few more in this Cup Series season.
