Hendrick Motorsports is the winningest team in Cup Series history. No other organization to participate in NASCAR’s decades of existence surpasses its stature in the sport. Naturally, the team and its members have done their best to protect this legacy and perform at the required level. Team owner Rick Hendrick has supervised the success of Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Alex Bowman, for quite a long time now.

As that time of year arrives again, Mr. Hendrick and his roster of drivers gear up again to make new records. The playoffs have been a stage to shine for Hendrick Motorsports in the past, and yet again, Rick Hendrick and Co. will be looking forward to making the most of their chances.

HMS has fielded some of the track’s fastest cars of the year. Kyle Larson in the #5 and William Byron in the #24 have been phenomenal in their Chevys, as they have been deemed favorites to make the final 4 by experts and fans. Mr Hendrick will also be considering a reality where Kyle Larson and William Byron compete for the title against each other in the season’s final race at Phoenix.

Upcoming star William Byron is the perfect example of a seamless transition from a big name. Entering as the top-ranked driver in the playoff point standings will also boost his confidence at the most crucial time of the season.

“We have to work our way through the rounds and do the best job we can at all the opening tracks,” said the 24-year-old speedster speaking to the media.

“It’s nice to have good bonus points and it’s nice to have that in our back pocket. I’ve seen how the playoffs have played out over the last few years, and you can’t get ahead of yourself. We have to do a good job in each round and take it one race at a time.”

Byron’s composure in the #24 has been essential to the team’s success in 2023. Promoting a clean and calm brand of racing, Byron has barely taken a step in the wrong direction, which has amounted to him winning a series-high 5 races including a sweep at Las Vegas and Phoenix.

William Byron and Kyle Larson have performed in sync this season. The No. 5 has taken up the mantle whenever No. 24 has faced a dry stretch of poor form. Winning the million-dollar prize at the All-Star Race was a sign of the dominance Yung Money can produce. William Byron believes that going into the playoffs, teamwork will be an important part of the team meetings. Speaking about the same, the 25-year-old says, “The two of our teams work really well together,”

“You’ll see a lot of times he and I being close together on pace because we drive similarly. We search for kind of the same things in terms of balance of the car. I think that helps our team’s progress. Rudy (Fugle) knows that he can look at their stuff and give me something similar and it usually works.”

The duo has steadied the boat for Rick Hendrick this season, who had to oversee disappointing seasons from Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman, who are definitely surprising exclusions from the playoffs. As per Byron, keeping track of their improvements throughout the year has helped them compensate for the loss of their other two stars. Going from strength to strength, the #24 team has indeed surpassed expectations, to say the least.

“I look at Las Vegas, we have obviously a great notebook at that track. Darlington was a pretty good run for us, but we had some things to work on, so we’ve been working in the simulator on those things and trying to get a little bit better. I think it helps just having that notebook.” states the North Carolina native.

“Being able to lean on those notes. For us, it’s about how the balance of the car felt on that track. The weather changes play a role and we have to kind of adapt to what’s new and make sure we are keeping up with the racetrack.”

Undeniably, Mr. Hendrick has managed to get his hands on two superstars of NASCAR who look more than ready to challenge for the title.
