In a recent tweet from Jeff Gluck, Canada’s love for the new NASCAR Netflix show became quite evident, with the series ranking as the third most trending show in the country after the release. While this may be surprising to newer fans of the sport, those who recall Richard Petty’s entry into the world of NASCAR will know that Canada is no stronger to the sport’s legacy.
Only a few days after his 21st birthday, Richard Petty kicked off NASCAR’s greatest story at the CNE Stadium in Toronto. Not only does this show just how far back Canada’s history with NASCAR stretches, but once we pair it with the NCS series and its success, it also becomes clear that there is room for NASCAR to further expand the Cup Series into the land of the maple tree.

With the growing reception, the docuseries seems to be getting in Canada, the NASCAR community immediately began to consider the thought of the Cup Series making an appearance in the nation. One of the few tracks deemed worthy enough quickly made itself known as fans commented, “Canada has long Supported NASCAR and should get races and we have 2 of the most iconic road courses in the World in CTMP and Montreal.”
Others were equally enthusiastic about a race in Montreal, after all, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve isn’t just a world-class race track that hosts the Canadian Grand Prix, but it’s also home to the Pinty Series and the Napa Auto Parts 200 for the Xfinity Series too. And fans made sure their support for the circuit was well known. “Seems like a MAJOR sign to race in Montreal 😏”, one fan wrote
Other users were also excited to hopefully witness a cup series event at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The track located in Ontario could be the perfect road course destination with its long straights and relatively wider turns. Fans couldn’t help but bring the Park into the conversation too. A user shared, “Seems like a good time to look into adding Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to the cup schedule,” while another stated “Canada loves its NASCAR! Get it back to CTMP!! #BringNascarCupSeriesNorth”
