Since making his debut in the NASCAR Cup Series, Corey LaJoie has been unable to win a single race but the 2024 season brings with it a lot of promise. Spire Motorsports are hoping for a big year ahead especially after they purchased a charter from Live Fast Motorsports, which will be filled by Zane Smith. Additionally, Carson Hocevar will also be one of the full-timers in the team starting this season.

However, it’s safe to say that the team has a stacked lineup at the moment but getting race wins is easier said than done. Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar will be running full-time in the Cup Series for the first time so it would not be fair to expect wins out of them right off the bat. However, as far as Corey LaJoie goes, the winless run has gone on for far too long.

The 32-year-old has been racing in the NASCAR Cup Series for the last 8 years, and during this period, he has started 236 races and has not won a single one. He does have eight top-10 finishes to his name. In fact, Corey LaJoie has not won a race in either of the three big competitions—the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, or Truck Series—which is quite surprising.

However, Corey LaJoie has won races in smaller competitions like the ARCA Menards Series, K&N Pro Series East, Whelen Modified Tour, and Whelen Southern Modified Tour. In the 2012 K&N Pro Series, the 32-year-old finished the campaign in P2 for Randy LaJoie Racing. In that campaign, he won five races.

In August last year, Corey LaJoie signed a multi-year extension with Spire Motorsports, and he will be looking to break that winless streak as soon as possible. After signing the new deal, the 32-year-old said to NASCAR, “I still feel like I’ve got a lot of work to do there and a lot a lot of stuff personally to learn and grow and just continue to evolve.”

Despite not winning in 236 starts, Corey LaJoie is confident that the #7 team will win a race and make it to the playoffs. The 32-year-old even said that he would be disappointed in himself if he was not able to achieve that. While the confidence is great to see, getting the job actually done on the track is a whole different ball game.

“If we don’t make the playoffs, we’ll be pretty frustrated…we’re gonna surprise some people. We will win. I would be very upset and probably frustrated and feel like internally we probably didn’t meet our marks if we didn’t win or find ourselves in the playoffs,” the driver of the #7 car said.

For fans, a Corey LaJoie win has been long overdue in the Cup Series, and it will be interesting to see how he performs. The 32-year-old’s performance in Clash at the Coliseum was not the best, but considering that he had his career-best Cup Series season last year, things may be on an upward curve for him and Spire Motorsports.
