The 2020 season witnessed three drivers end a long win drought. They were Kurt and Kyle Busch, and Austin Dillon. In Kyle’s case, his win at the Texas Motor Speedway was enough to keep his streak going on for 16 consecutive years. However, his older brother went for 46 races without a victory before winning his home race in Las Vegas.
However, the person who will be the most relieved is Austin Dillon. As it turns out, Dillon has had the longest gap between race wins, 88 races, to be precise. His 2020 O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 win at Texas was his third career win. The first one came at the 2017 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, while he bagged a second one at the 2018 Daytona 500.

This means that he went a full year without reaching victory lane. Owing to this, it must have been a massive weight off his shoulders.

What can Austin Dillon do from here?
With the 2021 Cup Series season on the horizon, Dillon will be on a mission. The 30-year-old has been going from strength to strength over the years. Admittedly, the 2019 season was a small blemish in the record, but he managed to right that little statistic in 2020.
In the 2020 season, he put in a strong running, but he was inconsistent. It didn’t help matters that he missed a race at Daytona due to a positive COVID test. This time around, the Richard Childress Racing driver is determined to break into the Top 10 or even mount a serious title challenge.

Without a doubt, Austin Dillon is an excellent driver and can pose a threat for a win when needed. Aside from the win in Texas, the driver broke into the top-five on three other occasions. Obviously, he will want to eliminate all thoughts of his nightmare 2020 season and move on to the coming season and attack it with new vigor.
