NASCAR race tracks may not look like a battlefield, but with all the drivers striving for the top positions, the scenario is no less than a war. Every race comes with its incidents and stories of bumps, spins, and wrecks. The D-shaped, asphalt race track at Richmond Raceway witnessed an incident between Denny Hamlin and JJ Yeley, and it hasn’t gone down well with the fans.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is known for his bold personality and robust demeanor on the track. In a recent incident on the track, he bumped hard into the left rear of the Rick Ware Racing driver. On Turn 1 Yeley got spun out by Hamlin and got knocked into the wall. This led to a caution in the race with twenty laps more to go. His car received a lot of damage owing to the hit, and there was smoke coming out it too.

Denny Hamlin’s hit isn’t going well with fans

NASCAR on Twitter posted the video of the incident and wrote, “You saw it, indeed! @jjyeley1 spins after contact with @dennyhamlin.” The fans clearly witnessed the incident and think it might be intentional. In the video, fans can hear the commentator say, “Ohh we saw it..turn 1, hard in the wall. You couldn’t have seen it any better as off the front bumper of the guy we were riding with and listening to. And JJ Yeley got the worst end of that one and we’re back under caution for the second time.”

This hit by Hamlin prompted a lot of comments from the fans. One fan suggested JJ Yeley should call Hamlin live in his podcast ‘Actions Detrimental.’ Hamlin, who has the podcast series under the Dirty Mo Media banner, gives his listeners a lot of unfiltered and bold perspectives on NASCAR. While he talks honestly about other drivers, it would be epic to hear Hamlin say about his own incident.

Fans call his actions ironic to what he said earlier about Kyle Busch

Fans are very unhappy looking at how Hamlin wrecked Yeley in the race. While some fans thought it would have been intentional, some fans feel such incidents are a part of competitive racing. Fans were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the Twitter post by NASCAR.

What further stands out is that this comes right after Hamlin gave his thoughts on Kyle Busch‘s “we have completely lost any sense of respect in the garage” admission. To this, Hamlin said, “fair statement, I can’t refute it… But it certainly has changed. Absolutely, within our sport. .. also tried to talk to people and it’s like, it just doesn’t get through. And so you just feel like you’re done talking. Right? And so it is a shame…”

Fans we clearly not happy with the irony.
