A lot has changed for Kyle Busch after he made his move to Richard Childress Racing from Joe Gibbs Racing. And why wouldn’t it? He was with JGR for the biggest chunk of his career, and the majority of his total career wins came with JGR. Everything has changed. Right?
Well, almost everything has changed.
Because of course, what hasn’t changed is Busch’s winning habits. Kyle Busch won the 61st Cup race of his career at Fontana, his first with RCR, and the win that saw him break Richard Petty’s long-standing record of most consecutive seasons with a win.

But one other thing which hasn’t changed with Busch is his personality.
Kyle Busch is back to his witty self at Richard Childress Racing
Kyle Busch is, without a doubt, one of the unique, eccentric, and quotable drivers in the history of NASCAR. Be it a celebratory situation, a stressful scenario, or the mood be jubilant, or melancholic, ‘Rowdy’ always brings the fireworks with his quick wit and humor.
This was once again on display during the race at Fontana after his spotter Derek Kneeland broke some bad news to him over the radio. “Too fast sections, eight and ten,” Kneeland told him, to which Kyle Busch replied, “Dude.”

“Just shake it off, man, have some more fun passing these cars,” Randall Burnett, his crew chief, told him. “Points, points, points. Throw’em all away, burn’em all up,” the #8 driver replied.

In an interview with NBC Sports ahead of the season, Kyle Busch was asked if he thought he’d take time to adjust to his new team or if he’d be fast right out of the gates from the Clash. Sharing his expectations of the 2023 season, he replied, “I expect to come right out of the gate and get going and be fast right away, I hope that comes to fruition and starts at the Clash. I feel like there’s a really good sense of a baseline to be able to go out there and be fast and competitive right out of the gate and look good like we need to.
I don’t think it will take much time. Fast cars cure all.”
Suffice it to say, what he predicted came true in Clash itself. Kyle Busch has been fast and has challenged for the wins in all three races so far.

It’d be interesting to see now if he’s able to maintain this pace and this consistency and write another chapter in the already legendary legacy of Kyle Busch.
