Last weekend was the NASCAR Cup race at the Talladega Superspeedway. Since this was Talladega, many were expecting an insanely action-packed race, especially with Playoff positions on the line. However, the entire race was surprisingly ‘civil’ for the most part. In fact, Bubba Wallace noted that there were barely any wrecks, at a track that is infamous for ‘Big One’ wrecks.
This is significant because the track is notorious for big wrecks and it is unusual for a largely incident-free race. In fact, out of 86 superspeedway races, only two of them have been incident free. That was in 2001 and in 2002, both at the Talladega Superspeedway.

How did NASCAR fans react to the Bubba Wallace observation?
Many fans sympathized with Bubba Wallace because he only managed to finish in a disappointing 16th place. Without too many wrecks and subsequent cautions, he was unable to make any moves to the front of the pack. Others acknowledged that the fact that he had not wrecked at a track notorious for seeing big wrecks was a massive achievement.
Was a tough one. Die hard Cowboys fan but I had to watch Dega too. Wanted to see you up front but hey, no “big one”. On to the Roval. I see a top 5.

We pull for you Big Bubba!

Ah not wrecking at the wreckfest is an accomplishment in itself.

Yeah weird race. No one wanted to try a third line to try and move to the front. Hated seeing you stuck mid-pack with no where to go.

A fair number of people were baffled at the lack of risk taken during the race. Almost throughout the race, there were two distinct lines, and no driver was willing to try and go for a third line. Owing to that, Wallace was stuck in the midfield throughout the entire race and making no headway.
Today just wasn’t meant to be a good one.
Hopefully you can survive the chaos that is commonly known as the Roval.

The fans were just glad that the 23XI Racing driver completed the race in one piece, completely waving away his disappointment. Having said all that though, everyone is looking forward to the upcoming race at the Charlotte Roval. They also warned that there is a possibility of chaos breaking out at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is largely because it is the last race before the Playoff Round of 12 wraps up with a nice bow on top.
