It’s almost certain now that who the three front runners, or at least those with the most chances of getting the new charters are in NASCAR. It’s Dale Earnhardt Jr, it’s Denny Hamlin, and it’s Matt Kaulig.
In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, the NASCAR spotters were asked for their insider info on the whole charter situation, especially with the reports of the cost of a charter ballooning up to around $20 million.

“It’s not a secret. It’s Denny (Hamlin), it’s Dale (Earnhardt Jr.), it’s probably Matt Kaulig,” Kraft said, “I don’t know, I mean, $20 million, Dale’s gonna have a lot of time..”

Dale Earnhardt Jr., a miser?
Dale Earnhardt Jr is currently the richest driver in the sport. The former Hendrick Motorsports driver reportedly has a net worth of over $300 million. Having said that, he was also described as someone who doesn’t like to spend money easily.
In an episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast earlier this year, Bubba Wallace’s spotter Freddie Kraft had spoken about the various possible destinations for Kyle Busch amidst his contract crisis situation at JGR.
And speaking about Dale Jr. and him potentially signing Busch, the spotter said it’s unlikely for one simple reason. The NASCAR Hall of Famer doesn’t like to spend a lot of money.

“Dale, if anybody’s ever seen Dale hag online on eBay, you know he is not paying Kyle Busch,” Kraft said, to which his fellow spotter Griffin replied, “Dale Jr. is a tight a**.”
“Anybody who knows him knows that.”

So it’ll be interesting to see whether Dale Jr. loosens up his pocket by $20 million, potentially even more in order to get his team a seat at the big boys table.
