At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, Bubba Wallace kept up his Top 10 streak with a fine fifth place. However, there is a bit of a dispute about how he got there in the first place.
Some people alleged that he cut the corner somewhere on the track and gained a few positions. Under normal circumstances, he would have to surrender the number of positions he gained or receive a penalty. However, spotter Freddie Kraft explained why Wallace was able to escape unscathed.

He said, “Full transparency with the Bubba deal. I’ve seen, we’ve been killed on this last night for short-cutting the course. I thought, ‘This is 50-50.’ I don’t know what the wording is, because we were forced off the race track.”
“We got drilled in the right front wheel, I don’t know how the h*ll we didn’t get a flag in the last ten laps.”
“But we were drilled off into the grass and we went straight. I told Bubba, slow down while you blend in here, don’t just keep digging and cut off more spots.”
“And we blended back in and I think I got on Channel 2, saying ‘I don’t know if we should serve a penalty or not because it’s 50-50’.”

How did Bubba Wallace perform in the race at Indianapolis?
As mentioned before, he finished fifth, a pretty great result which also shows his consistency. In the previous two races, he was 5th and 8th fastest on the track. Suffice to say, the move to swap his and Christopher Bell’s pit crews paid off handsomely. Otherwise, there have been many occasions where he was in great positions, but botched pit stops ruined things.

Admittedly, the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course was a bit chaotic. However, Wallace can be glad that he managed to survive and end up in 5th position.
