In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Freddie Kraft, the spotter of NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, criticized Ryan Blaney for his part in the late-race controversy in the All-Star Race.
But the thing the NASCAR spotter criticized the Team Penske driver, particularly about was his lack of awareness of the flags, regardless of whether he was left out on the track to put his window net back up when there should’ve been either a black flag or at least, a summon to the pits.

“I’m okay with bringing him down pit road. But I’m not okay with bringing him down and letting him fix it. That’s his mistake,” Kraft said. “He was my leading candidate for ‘What an idiot’ this week, because he didn’t know the rules.”
“First rule about my job is to know the damn rules. And you got to know the rules. That was the yellow flag you saw, not the checkered flag,” he continued.
“And he made that mistake.”
Ryan Blaney on what went through his head towards the end of the All-Star Race
In a post-race interview, the Team Penske driver described that in his mind, at that moment, he thought the race was over before it went to overtime.
“It was looking real bad for us. I thought the race was over and I let the window net down. I do want to thank NASCAR for letting kind of fix it and not make us come down pit road,” Blaney said.
