Last year’s Talladega win will always be inspirational for Bubba Wallace and his spotter, Freddie Kraft. After a brilliant weekend at Bristol, NASCAR Cup Series visits Talladega Superspeedway next week for the tenth round of this season. This is the place where Bubba won his first-ever and only Cup Series win. Even though it was just a 117 laps race, the win was historic for Wallace Jr.

The win boosted Wallace’s points, which helped him finish the 2021 season in 21st place with 699 points. However, things didn’t go their way this season. 2022 has been harsh so far for both Bubba and 23XI Racing. The Cup Series driver is currently in 22nd place in the driver’s standings with 163 points as compared to Chase Elliott, the leader with 324 points.

However, Freddie Kraft believes Talladega is the perfect place to turn things around. By taking last year’s win as a goal to follow, it’s time to set things straight. On his personal Twitter handle, Kraft wrote, “Ready for this sh*t to start being fun again. Talladega seems like a good place to start.”

Why is Talladega win important for Bubba Wallace?

The win made Bubba the first-ever black driver to take the Chequered flag after Wendell Scott in 1963. Not only this, but also the 23XI driver became the 12th driver to be on the elite list of Talladega Superspeedway winners. Appraisals poured in from everywhere as Wallace, the 28-year-old driver, colorfully celebrated his win.

Talking about his first win, Bubba conveyed in 2021, “Man, I’m just so proud of everyone at 23XI. The new team coming in and getting a win late in the season. I know a lot of history was made today, I believe, which is really cool, but it’s about our guys, about our team, about what was done”
