Despite securing a commendable fifth position at the Darlington race, 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace faced his share of hurdles. A significant incident involved a major wreck during the race, from which Wallace skillfully steered clear by diving down the apron. Yet, in a surprising move, NASCAR chose not to preserve Wallace’s position post-wreck, citing his insufficient slowdown as the reason.
This ruling stirred up discontent in both Wallace and his spotter. Following the race, Bubba Wallace expressed his frustration, hinting at the consistent inconsistency he had experienced. He struggled to accept his top 5 finish, “mind-boggled” by the fact that he ended up behind cars involved in the wreck, hinting at what could have been a better outcome.
Hard to accept a solid top 5 when the inconsistency is so consistent, mind boggled how we finished behind cars caught up in a wreck. What could’ve been…. pic.twitter.com/1qntzlNqBl

Echoing his driver’s sentiments, the spotter offered a sarcastic response and launched into a passionate criticism of NASCAR’s decision.
Bubba Wallace’s spotter rants about NASCAR’s decision over his driver
Talking about the incident on the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, sarcastically said, “We should have just piled into the wreck or slowed down and waited for the wreck to come down the hill and hit us. I apologize for missing that wreck. I don’t know was thinking about.”
Later on, he said, “I have no issue. If you slow down behind the wreck. Don’t touch anybody. You should get your spot back. Go back to when you know you’re running whatever they want to. For one thing, it should not be a f**king judgment call or whatever.
“Reasonable! Who decides what is reasonable speed? What is reasonable speed? What is that? Is it pace car speed? Is it 100 miles an hour? What is reasonable speed?”
Who knew, we should have just ran into the wreck and slowed down.
Would have restarted in the same place. If only we had a podcast… 😁 https://t.co/uFnblrDkqx

Kraft then added, “All they had to do was walk over to the FOX booth. Because Fox had a big graphic on the TV involved in the wreck. And that’s all eight cars and the four guys that they put back in the front were all on that graphic.”

Fueled by a strong disagreement with the recent decision not to maintain Wallace’s car’s spot following the wreck, Kraft let loose a torrent of criticism. His passionate tirade, filled with utter disbelief and sharp accusations, was aimed squarely at what he considered an utterly preposterous ruling from NASCAR.
He fervently expressed, “So they’re in the f**king wreck, and somehow ‘All right, you guys. You know what, you didn’t spin out I guess’ is what we’re going with here. So you get your spots back. And then they’ll come out and say that the 21 of the 23 were wrong because we didn’t slow down enough to stay in the wreck. You are supposed to get the f**k out of there so you’re not in the wreck.”
His frustration escalated as he continued, “We dove on the apron and drove away. So guys don’t slide down the hill into us. It’s the most asinine thing I’ve heard. Listen, you want to argue about reasonable speed and whatnot, but to say that we did something wrong by throttling up to get away from the wreck is the dumbest sh*t I’ve heard all week.”
