Keelan Harvick left speechless by Bubba Wallace's praise—Is the next Harvick generation ready to shine?

Bubba Wallace has faced several interviews every week throughout his racing career. However, getting interviewed by Kevin Harvick’s son was perhaps not on his schedule. Keelan Harvick, who has followed in his father’s footsteps, will compete in the Legends Cars race at Florence Motor Speedway this Friday.

Surprisingly, rather than spending his time on the sim and preparing for the penultimate regular season final race, Bubba Wallace decided to participate in the event as well. But little did he know that he would have to face an interview from a young racer.

A wholesome moment with Keelan Harvick

The 23XI Racing star started his racing career competing in the Legend Cars. While he might have made it to the pinnacle of stock car racing, he does return to his racing roots from time to time. Similarly, Keelan Harvick, who is a Legends Car racing regular, will compete against the Cup Series driver in the main event.

But the 12-year-old had donned a different hat when he bumped into Wallace at the Speedway. Although the young driver was only trying to get a conversation flowing, Bubba Wallace’s praise for him simply made his day. “What do you think?” Keelan kickstarted the interview. Struggling to find a question for Wallace, Keelan asked a general question, “How was your race?”

But Wallace’s reply wasn’t something Keelan was expecting. “It was eventful. I was late to the grid, joined at the back of the pack, off the turn 2, and finished second. So that’s my best finish of the shootout; I’m just trying to be like you. Every race, every lap, trying to be like Keelan Harvick.” Stunned and overwhelmed by this response, the young driver added, “Alrighty, thank you.”

Have an interesting take?

Usually, Bubba Wallace finds himself on the bitter end of the stick with the ways fans bash him online. However, seeing this friendly interview, the same lot went on to praise him for the way he interacted with Keelan. A few of them even sent their best wishes for his crucial race at Darlington Raceway.

Fans appreciate Bubba Wallace’s hearty conversation

Wallace doesn’t exactly have the best conduct on the track, and his antics at times have resulted in a massive backlash from the community. But, often, his true personality gets overshadowed by his actions during the Cup Series events. Therefore, bringing light on this moment, a fan wrote, “This is the Bubba I wish people saw more of.”

Even those supporting Keelan for a win against Bubba Wallace had nice things to say about him. “Bubba, i hate to say it…but Happy Harvick 2 is gonna pass you on the last lap…love ya bubba…give MJ & DH my love…git’er done.”

Wallace, driving the No. 23 Toyota for 23XI Racing, currently sits 13th in the driver’s rankings. This fan was particularly targeting Wallace’s runs this season, where the No. 23 team has not seen a single win in 25 races and has only led 82 laps in all.

Predicting Wallace’s chances to make the playoffs, a fan even laid down the strategy that could help the driver reach his objectives. “Now if you finish 2nd at @darlingtonraceway you’ll probably make the chase. As long as @c_buescher doesn’t win, 🏆 you’ll be fine @bubbawallace ✊🏾💯😉”

Bubba Wallace needs this win to secure his spot in the playoffs. Stakes are high, and there’s just one chance. His best finish in Darlington is no better than a P5 in 2023. Even earlier this year, when NASCAR went to Darlington for the Goodyear 400, Bubba finished P7, which is fine for the start of a season, but right now the Darlington run is crucial and remains a deciding factor.

Now, some didn’t miss this opportunity to throw shades at other Cup Series drivers. In this instance, Ty Gibbs was the victim. “Thought that was Ty Gibbs for a moment 😂” Although if we talk about their resemblance, there’s none. Even, their on-track runs and standings have a difference. Gibbs comfortably sits in 10th position on the driver’s rankings.

It’s surprising to see Bubba Wallace so chill and relaxed during a regular press meet ahead of the race day. Therefore, the way he responded to this interview didn’t sit well with race fans. “Bubba you can’t be that cool.”

It’s fair to say, the racing environment will be hostile and competitive when Wallace takes the wheel at Darlington Raceway. He will need to bring his A-game to ensure his advances into the playoffs.
