Bubba Wallace and former NFL player Brandon Marshall once discussed how the 23XI driver questioned himself before his win at Talladega amid his looming contract situation. He also mentioned how he was left red-faced after his boss managed to score a win before him.

Marshall stated, “And it took me to confidence, the word confidence and I don’t give a dang what level you are at, you are going to face adversity and they’re like man Bubba just needs one win. Right we got six races to go he just needs one win, he needs it. Do you feel like you this win came at the right time like did you start questioning yourself this past year or so? Were you questioning yourself?”
Wallace then responded, “oh no doubt. I got through halfway through this year and already started riding the ship. It’s like man we’re gonna run 15th to 20th and we’re gonna end up here and that quickly switched over to counting how many races I had left on my contract. As simple as that, I said, I don’t know what MJ’s or Denny’s vision is but they’re winners. My only saving grace was Denny didn’t win until the playoffs started. So I was like hey, boss ain’t winning, we ain’t winning we’re good. Well then he went and won and I was like oh no. I was like I got one more year left and you know that might be it.”
Fast forward to the present times and Wallace extended his contract with 23XI Racing
