Home/NASCAR

It’s time for a new season and drivers are all set to make a comeback to once again prove their stance. This season has brought in new hopes for Bubba Wallace and it seems as though he is all set to embrace his new season afresh. With only two victories that have spanned across 255 starts over his eight-year journey in the Cup Series, it is time to redeem himself, at least once.

Wallace is set to embark on the practice session early, before the biggest event of the NASCAR year, the Daytona 500. This time, Wallace has himself taken to X (formerly Twitter) to share about his mental state, while taking a slight dig at his wife Amanda and what she feels about his endeavors.

Let’s be honest here. Wallace hasn’t been particularly great in the 2024 season and the 2023 season hasn’t also been particularly eventful. While his teammate Tyler Reddick was able to make it to the Top 4 and even bag the regular season title, Bubba Wallace finished 18th in the standing. He had even accounted for only six top-five and fourteen top-ten finishes, along with three DNFs and an average finish of 15.2 in a total of 36 races.

From someone like Wallace, who has been on the tracks for quite some time now, this seems to be a major misnomer. However, it seems as though even Wallace is aware of the same and is now striving to prove his worth. Recently, he shared how he has been taking a more healthy lifestyle so that it can have a positive effect on his mind. Citing the same, Wallace said, “Last night of the off season. Pre season work starts tomorrow, kicking it off with a fun trip to see the @Columbia1938 fam! Excited for this season to get underway. Took it upon myself to be better and do better. Got my a-s kicked the last 2 seasons, plain and simple”.

Even the 2023 season wasn’t that eventful for Bubba Wallace either, and he missed the Cup. Although Wallace did manage to make it to the Top 4, he ended the season with a 10th standing in points. What went wrong? Wallace faced a challenging beginning to the season. He managed just one top-five result in the opening six races while enduring three DNFs. Additionally, he placed 22nd or lower in six of the first ten events.

Citing how his miseries have been a source of strength for him, Wallace said, “No shame in saying that. Using it as motivation. I’ve been rocking the “just get by” mentality for too long.Focused on my well being most importantly. Eating right, drinking right. Working out. Tired of looking like the grinch(can’t help the hair) (laughing emoji)”.

Wallace also shared how his wife has believed that his new routine is just a phase and soon it will diminish. Pointing out the same, he said, “I love my wife, but she thinks it’s a fad and I’m gonna stop next week. So excited to prove her wrong (blush emoji) In fact, I’ve been at it since the end of the season. The last 3 months have been the best ever. The mentals are at an all time high!! Couldn’t be happier!”. Wallace’s renewed focus on mental and physical well-being signals a turning point in his approach to racing. As he heads into the 2025 season, the question remains: can this new mindset finally translate into consistent success on the track?

With such preparations and determination, it is common to wonder whether the probability curve shows something positive for Bubba Wallace in the upcoming season. He is currently under immense pressure and has to prove his worth.

Speaking of the same, Wallace said, “To my people struggling to get started on a new journey. It’s tough as shit, no doubt. But I look at it as there is 24 hours in a day. What’s 30 minutes to walk, run, or ride the peloton? 30 minutes. The self gratitude after is so worth it. I’ll start by saying I believe in you! 2025 is gonna be a grind. Time to roll up the sleeves, grab a glove and get in the game!”.

In September, Wallace signed a multiyear deal with Team 23XI, owned by Denny Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan. While this is his fifth season with the team, Wallace has not been able to prove much of his worth till now. The team has also been quite positive of Wallace and his performance. In an official announcement, Wallace said, “From day one Bubba has been an integral part of 23XI. We’re excited to announce that he has signed a multi-year renewal and will continue to play a key role in helping 23XI grow and succeed”.
