If we are to compare last year’s Rolex 24 Hour of Daytona to this year, there seems to be more hype about the endurance racing event. Well, when you’ve got talented NASCAR star drivers like Shane van Gisbergen and Connor Zilisch, fans are bound to follow and tune into the racing action. Last year, Zilisch was crowned the winner in the LMP2, but in 2025 he’s joined a new team and is looking to repeat the winning heroics in the GTD Pro class.

SVG, Zilisch, Supercars champ Scott McLaughlin, and veteran racer Ben Keating will share the duties of No. 91. Well, the chemistry between the drivers has been well documented and shared by Zilisch on his social media accounts. The teenager even had his phone stolen by his teammates, which led to more selfies, banter, and fun.

However, it looks like Ben Keating is being neglected by his teammates, as he is the least featured driver on this social media post. Bubba Wallace certainly took note of it and made this known with a reply to Zilisch’s latest post on the social media platform X.

Bubba Wallace demands more screen time for Ben Keating

With the race about to get underway, Connor Zilisch posted a selfie with his teammates. He shared the post on X with a caption, “Ready for 2 laps around the clock with these guys. Let’s do it boys! @smclaughlin93 @shanevg97 @keatingcarguy (too busy for us😜)” The Xfinity rookie trolled the senior-most driver of his team as he couldn’t make the team photo before the event kick-started.

Well, Bubba Wallace took notice of this and came out in support of Keating. “Yalls 4th driver just sitting off to the side in every post like… no love. #teamben.” Wallace even shared the iconic GIF of John Travolta from Pulp Fiction. Keating has previously won the Rolex 24 back in 2015, but teaming up with this group has been an exciting prospect for him.

“Really exciting for me. I’ve never been in the same car with any of those guys. I’ve raced against them all and have a ton of respect. I really like them all. Same with Justin [Marks].” The 53-year-old driver also heaped praises on young Connor Zilisch, who won the LMP2 class last year along with the 12 Hours of Sebring. Now with Zilisch transitioning to NASCAR full-time in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports, Keating has no doubts he will shine as bright as ever.

“And I have grown to have a lot of respect for Connor in the LMP2 class last year. He won this race at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring in class and was a rock star in the car… I’m not surprised at all he wins in Trans Am, IMSA, or NASCAR. The kid is just really, really talented.” Keating added. None of the team members are worried about the end results; rather, they want to have fun competing in the event. And who knows? With the talent and the experience this lineup has, they just might come out on top.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Ben Keating the unsung hero of the team, or just the guy missing from selfies?

Have an interesting take?

There must have been a good enough reason why Ben Keating couldn’t join in Zilisch’s and the team’s social media shenanigans. After all, the GTD pro class isn’t the only division Keating is racing in; he is pulling off double duty by competing in the LMP2 class as well.

Here’s how Keating is preparing to pull off the double-duty

The Texas native driver will be piloting two cars for the 63rd running of the endurance racing competition at Daytona. He will represent PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports in the LMP2 class and share a GTD-Pro entry with Trackhouse Racing. The regulation of the event will require Keating to drive in LMP2 for four and a half hours to meet the minimum drive time, whereas the minimum drive time criteria for the GTD pro category is set for two hours.

Keating has previously attempted the double, but this change certainly allows him to formulate a good strategy to participate in both classes. “I think that strategy-wise, to give us the best shot, I should get my drive time done as early as possible in the Corvette… I know my job well, and I don’t expect to have any problem doing that, but it’s a different challenge this year than it’s been in the past because of the class split.” The veteran driver said in an interview.

Keating has come prepared to make sure he doesn’t break the time window rule. He will come equipped with an old-school Timex Iron Man watch for the race. So keep an eye out for this veteran driver, as he might go home with two trophies to his name.
