The Bristol Motor Speedway provided an interesting race this year! We saw the race leaders lose the top spot right on the last lap, making way for Kyle Busch to take the win. Incidentally, it also proved to be the race with one of the highest TV viewers. However, not everyone was happy about it, particularly, the 2021 Cup Series winner, Kyle Larson.
Larson said, “I guess the way that I look at it (is) if we’re not going to take the windshields out, then why are we racing on dirt? We just shouldn’t race on dirt if we’re not going to take the windshields out and actually have a dirt race with moisture in the track and being able to produce a real dirt race. I feel like we’re just wasting everybody’s time a little bit and not giving the fans and competitors what we all deserve.”
“So in my opinion, if we’re not going to take the windshields out, we might as well just never put dirt on Bristol again – which I’m all for not putting dirt on Bristol whether we have windshields or not. I think the racing at Bristol is amazing just as normal.”

Freddie Kraft Reacts to Kyle Larson’s Criticism
Freddie Kraft responded by saying, “Kyle clearly knows what he’s talking about. Spot on for the windshield but spot off for it wouldn’t have solved the problem, I don’t think. Because the reason why they want windshields out is so they can keep the moisture on the race track and keep the track tacky”
He added, “The problem right now isn’t visibility, It’s every time there’s a little moisture on the track and the track’s tacky, you saw the first trucking race, you saw the start on Sunday night, anytime the track has moisture in it, and it’s tacky, the grills get caked with mud and the cars overheat”.

Kraft presented a very different view of the matter and one that makes sense. What do you think? Where does the problem really lie?
