Recently, NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell spoke about the various NASCAR packages. According to him, the teams are free to run the 550 HP packages, but he believes that the 670 HP packages are better. In light of that, 23XI Racing’s Freddie Kraft, spotter of Bubba Wallace, poked a bit of fun at him.

He joked that NASCAR would “like what they see with the 750 HP package.” Owing to that, they would claim that a 900 HP package would be even better. In other words, Kraft is insinuating that NASCAR feels that the faster the package is, the better it is. Obviously, he meant it as a joke, but it is also worth mentioning that the faster the package, the heavier it is.

For now, Kraft, 23XI Racing, and Bubba Wallace will be looking forward to the 2022 Cup season. This is because the next-gen cars will likely offer a chance to improve on their 2021 championship position. Last year in the team’s debut season, Wallace enjoyed a good campaign, even coming away with a maiden win.

What to expect from Bubba Wallace and 23XI Racing

On a more serious note, 2022 will be a blank slate because all teams are trying their best to mesh well with the new car. If they can adapt to the cars quicker than anyone else, they could have the advantage. Additionally, with an experienced teammate like Kurt Busch in the other garage, it will only help Wallace and 23XI Racing.

One thing is for sure, the Talladega win in 2021 became a stepping stone for the driver and team. This is because it will provide a much-needed confidence boost for the outfit. Wallace’s win led to a small influx of sponsors and that will help provide more funding for the team. And for a one-year-old team like 23XI Racing, every bit of funding counts towards its success in the long run.
