In just under 10 days, one of the biggest spectacles in sports will kick off. The FIFA World Cup arrives every four years, so the anticipation is always high. Naturally, several high-profile brands are eagerly waiting for the mega event to begin. One of them is American fast food giant, McDonald’s, which recently tweeted to show its excitement. In NASCAR circles, it is best known for being the primary sponsor of 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace.

Speaking of Wallace, he had been in the news lately, and not in a good way. At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he let his emotions get the better of him. This resulted in a tussle with defending champion Kyle Larson on the race track. Wallace suddenly swerved and intentionally took out Larson, with Christopher Bell as an innocent victim.

What repercussions did Bubba Wallace face because of that incident?

Obviously, NASCAR was not going to ignore such reckless driving without any consequences. They slapped him with a one-race suspension, meaning that he missed the next race at Homestead-Miami. However, there was an even bigger ripple effect, as McDonald’s definitely did not appreciate the stunt and came under pressure from fans to drop Wallace.

They were pushed to drop their sponsorship. Nothing concrete resulted from the protests though. Fortunately, the #23 driver seemingly cleaned up his act and finished the next race in a fine 8th place. Sadly, he could only muster a disappointing 22nd place at the Phoenix Raceway. Aside from that, he has enjoyed a relatively decent season, with a win at the Kansas Speedway earlier this year.
