23XI Racing star Bubba Wallace has been away from social media for the majority of the 2024 NASCAR season. On the performance side of things, he certainly didn’t have a great outing, as he missed making the playoffs. However, he was blessed with a baby boy, Becks, and his attention towards his wife Amanda and son has pretty much kept him busy through the off-season as well.
Well, this silence by him on social media was indeed odd for his fans. However, he just wasn’t going to break the tradition of sharing the iconic Thanksgiving video he does every year. And while he was a day or two late, he delivered the goods, reminding the fans he wasn’t going to miss out on this ritual.

Bubba Wallace is back to his social media shenanigans
A year ago, if we were to rank drivers who were acing their social media game, the crown would’ve gone to Bubba Wallace. However, this time around things are different as the driver has limited his presence on social media. Every year on Thanksgiving, Bubba keeps his fans posted about the celebration at his house, but they weren’t sure if he’d turn up this time around.
Last year he posted a story about having a good time with his friends and family. He even teased the fans by showcasing a lineup of whiskeys like Weller, Old Forester, Woodford Reserve, and a few others, “Watcha sipping on?” However, one thing that has always remained constant every year is grooving to the unofficial Thanksgiving anthem, “Beans Greens, Potatoes Tomatoes.”
Wallace posted the hilarious remixed version of the song on his Instagram. He posted a story with the song and a four-word message, “Y’all thought I forgot”
He captioned his annual iconic post, “You already know what it is” Even his on-track rival and rookie driver Carson Hocevar joined that party and asked in the comments if Bubba shares this video every Thanksgiving, “do you post this every year? 😂” The Craftsman Truck Series ‘Most Popular Driver’ awardee, Rajah Caruth also chimed in, replying to Hocevar, saying, “@carsonhocevar yeah fam get hip😂😂”

The 2024 NASCAR campaign was indeed a tough one for Bubba Wallace and the #23 team. It was indeed baffling to see Tyler Reddick and the #45 team reach the championship 4, while Wallace couldn’t even make the top 16. Well, the top brass at the team made a decision call and have now decided to change his crew chief, Bottie Barker, with Charles Denike.

Bootie Barker didn’t expect to be dropped from his position
“23XI Racing has been good to me, and I hope I have been as good for 23XI.” This was the initial statement by the former crew chief for the #23 team. However, while speaking to SiriusXM Radio, Barker expressed his true feelings about being sacked by the team. He even stated that crew chiefs are the first ones in the firing line, and that’s just how NASCAR operates.
“I won’t lie, it was a surprise. It was a surprise. I will say this: I talked to Bubba before… as a crew chief, let’s just speak in generalities right now – rarely, does the crew chief get to set his own timetable or decide how he’s going to go out. It just doesn’t work that way. It’s just how it is.” Barker explained.
Bubba Wallace and Barker have been together since 2021 and have celebrated two Cup Series victories. But the 2024 season was plagued by one issue after another, which ultimately resulted in a disappointment. Wallace finished the 2024 season with 878 points and placed 18th in the championship standings. Meanwhile, his teammate. Tyler Reddick was 4th with 5031 points.

Ideally, there shouldn’t be a huge gap between the two teams, who almost had similar race setups and resources. And perhaps this forced the owner’s hand into making changes at the leadership level. Now it will be interesting to see how this new crew chief change works out for the #23 team for the 2025 season.
