One could consider the race at Michigan International Speedway a great race for Bubba Wallace, finishing P2! However, the 23XI Racing driver would disagree. In fact, he was quite disappointed, because he felt he could take the win. But what could he have done differently?
Well, Bubba answered exactly that.

After a late race caution led to a restart, Wallace was next to Harvick and in the perfect position of winning the race. Moreover, he had a mighty fast car, which proved to be his ally over the weekend. Unfortunately, with a push from Larson’s #5, along with some great speed and racing experience, the 2014 Cup Series Champion took the win.
Clearly, this left Bubba quite angry and disappointed. And in a recent episode of Stacking Pennies with Corey LaJoie, the 23XI Racing driver says what he would have done differently.

When Corey asked, “If you had to do the restart when we left the studio today, what would you do different?”
To which Wallace replied, “Push the #4 out there, get clear, and then just take his lunch money. It is Harvick, so he’s gonna win and he’s gonna make it hard to pass.”
Clearly, the driver of the #23 car is quite set on pushing Harvick off and taking the win. And it sure looks like he really wanted the win because his odds of winning a race this season looked better than ever in Michigan.
It surely broke Bubba when he couldn’t take the win, and had some very strong words after the race, too.
Bubba Wallace Says He Failed Everybody
In the post-race interview at Michigan, the driver of the #23 car was clearly heartbroken, and in tears. Moreover, he had some harsh things to say about himself.
"I failed everybody."

“Took the top there on the restart,” said Bubba.
“Thought I could hang with #4 [Harvick] and just got to racing the #5 [Kyle Larson] and the #22 [Joey Logano]. And 22 [Logano] did a good job of getting another Ford contract, helping a Ford [Harvick] win.”

The big words came right after Wallace appreciated his team for giving him a fast car.
“Just all in all an incredible weekend. Appreciate my team,”
“I’ll wear this one my heart for a while. I failed everybody.”

In the end, it sure wasn’t the weekend he had hoped it would be. Although, he did surely help his team out a lot, fighting 2 cars since the race restart and securing the second position. But what do you think he could have done differently?
