Things did not go to plan as far as Bubba Wallace was concerned at the Rolex 24 weekend, but he had the time of his life as a fan. The NASCAR Cup Series star was in high spirits going into the weekend, and despite not having a good run in the event he took part in, that spirit did not go down. Wallace uploaded several pictures from the weekend on his X handle but was irritated by a fan who had a rather unusual demand.

Three full-time NASCAR drivers took part in the IMSA event as teammates, but not in the 24-hour race. Bubba Wallace, John Hunter Nemechek, and Corey Heim all took part in the Michelin Pilot Race on Sunday. However, their car had to be retired due to a mechanical issue, something that plagued the Toyota team throughout their time at the event.

His experience as a driver might have been forgettable, but as a fan, Bubba Wallace was more than satisfied. It was the first time he had attended Rolex 24, and it was a day to remember. The 23XI Racing star shared several pictures that he snapped of the cars racing around the track from the stands. It turns out that he isn’t half bad as a photographer.

Uploading the images on X, the 30-year-old expressed his joy at being a fan at the iconic IMSA event for the first time in his life. “Had some fun being a fan for our first #Rolex24. Crowd was great, appreciated the support! These cars are insane! Enjoy the frames,” he tweeted.

However, one fan made a ridiculous comment, stating that the 23XI Racing driver uploaded photos of every single car but his. Considering that he did not even take part in the main feature race of the weekend, Wallace expressed his irritation as he replied, “Are you a fan or are you a fan…How the hell am I gonna take a pic of my own car when I’m driving? And how am I gonna take a pic of my teammates when we ain’t even in this damn race?!! Be better bro.”

The only reason Bubba Wallace was at the venue in the first place was to improve his road course skills before the start of the new season. Things might not have turned out the way he had hoped, but the Cup Series star was still left impressed with the culture at the event.

It’s always exciting for a race car driver to venture into different types of competition, and it was no different for Bubba Wallace. The 30-year-old said that the weekend felt like a massive car meet, and the level of fan interaction was impressive as well. He also spoke about how there was a lot that NASCAR drivers could learn from IMSA.

“I think the culture is actually really cool. It feels like a massive car meet, and there just so happens to be a 24-hour race. But there’s so much to do for the fans, and I think the accessibility that the fans have makes them feel a part of the sport,” he said, as per Yahoo.

“For us on the NASCAR side of things, we can learn a lot…which is mind-boggling, because NASCAR owns IMSA, so we won’t get into that. But it’s just really, really cool. You have people that are car people, and they have dream cars, and they get to purchase tickets and come see those cars in person and see them race, see how they perform and give them that feel. And then they get to meet some of their favorite drivers and just get to ask questions about it and just get to free roam the garage freely and have fun,” the 23XI Racing star added.

It will be interesting to see how the 30-year-old Toyota racer makes use of his experience in the IMSA competition and puts it to use in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series.
