The Kansas Speedway was the stage for some heart-pounding action in the NASCAR Truck Series this Saturday, delivering an electrifying display of high-speed drama. The race had fans teetering on the brink of their seats, their excitement reaching a crescendo with just seven laps to go. However, the real heartbreak unfolded under the glaring yellow lights, as they spelled doom for the young protege of the 23XI Racing driver, Bubba Wallace.
Rajah Caruth’s journey this season has been a true roller coaster, with the recent bombshell that GMS would shut down operations in 2024 casting a daunting shadow over his burgeoning career. Currently, the rookie finds himself mired in 17th place in the standings, struggling to find the elusive win or even a top-10 finish.

Saturday’s Kansas race took an unexpected turn with just 7 laps to go, thanks to ARCA standings leader Jesse Love. Love’s car got loose while navigating a turn on the Kansas oval, leading to an unfortunate collision with Rajah Caruth, who was right behind him. The contact sent Caruth’s #24 Silverado spinning out of control towards the track’s bottom, where it also collected Tanner Gray’s #15 car.
Caruth’s quick reflexes saved him from disaster as he lifted off the throttle, eventually regaining control of his Chevy. However, this incident proved costly as it forced him to take an unscheduled trip through the speedway’s infield grass, causing him to lose two spots on the grid. After running in a strong position at P10 and contending with the front runners, the sudden spin was a huge setback for Caruth.
After the dramatic turn of events, Caruth didn’t hold back when explaining what happened. He expressed his frustration, saying, “Yeah, that one truck, man, he’s really good, but man, he drove like a dumb**s tonight. He cut me a break earlier, which I appreciated, but due time, he just binned it on the bottom and just cut my nose off. So I had to lift for that, and he smoked the fence, and Tanner had nowhere to go. So, I feel bad for his guys and my guys ’cause that kind of just took us out.”

Despite the setback, Caruth remained resilient and highlighted the team’s effort, saying, “But, frustrating. We came from literal last car and leaped to 7th and running with the leaders down in stage two. And had a jack break on the last stop, and I smoked the fence a little bit, but it was fine. Started the pit cycle and feel like we’re going to make all right, you know, salvage an all right day, and we still did.”
Caruth found himself grappling with frustration after the unfortunate turn of events at the Kansas race. He candidly expressed his disappointment, stating, “Just really frustrating, man. I don’t know what to uh, what to do.” It was clear that the race had taken a toll on his emotions, leaving him searching for answers.
However, amidst the disappointment, Caruth also displayed a resilient spirit and a glimmer of optimism when discussing the upcoming race in Bristol. When asked about his mindset heading into the next race, he replied, “It’s extremely motivating, you know, Bristol is a track that I’m extremely confident at, and I know Chad’s setup and what we’ll have there. And the truck we’re taking is going to be really good. So just really excited to go there with our Wi Scott Foundation GMS team, and let’s hope we can execute a night over there.”
