Bubba Wallace, a prominent figure in the NASCAR community, made his racing debut when he was 9 years old. Growing up, he made his way to some of the best tracks in NASCAR. Among these tracks was the Martinsville Speedway, where he made history with his first NASCAR win. Racing in the Camping World Truck Series Kroger 200, Bubba Wallace also became the first African-American driver to win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series since Wendell Scott’s win in 1963. However, he doesn’t consider himself to be the best at superspeedways.
Superspeedways, as characterized by their large size and high speeds, are only present in two tracks of NASCAR: Talladega and Daytona. Apart from using restrictor plates to control the speed of the vehicles, racing on these large oval tracks is a challenge for drivers as they struggle with fuel management. Despite the challenges of the superspeedway, Bubba Wallace clinched victory at the Talladega Superspeedway in October 2021. However, he still doesn’t name himself among the best three picks for Superspeedways.

In a conversation with the media before the Daytona 500 qualifying, Bubba Wallace gave his insights on racing in NASCAR. Following this interview, American Motorsports journalist Jeff Gluck took to Twitter to share Wallace’s top three picks for the Superspeedways.
Among the three best drivers he chose were Wallace’s boss and his best friend, whom he considers acing superspeedways. “The best superspeedway racers? @BubbaWallace says it’s Hamlin, Blaney, and Logano. (Bubba puts himself in the top 10 but says he needs to do a better job finishing to be considered one of the best on speedways.)”

In the interview, Bubba Wallace also shared his thoughts on what makes a driver stand out in the superspeedways. “Decision making. Confidence. Awareness. Have to make all the right decisions,” he said. Speaking of why he chose Denny Hamlin, Wallace exclaimed, “I mean we look at what he’s (Denny Hamlin) been able to do and the resume he’s built. Him and I actually work really well on speedways together.”
“He’s really good at keeping the lead. I need to be better at keeping the lead with him. But we both make the right decisions to get up to the front, and when we’re there, we work together really well.” Let’s take a look at why he thinks Hamlin, Blaney, and Logano are the best on Superspeedways.

Next is Ryan Blaney, a childhood friend of Bubba Wallace, who again has a record of significant performances at the superspeedways. Despite a clash at the Daytona 500 in 2023, Blaney went on to secure the 8th position. In the same year, at the Talladega Superspeedway, Blaney finished in the winning position.
Bubba Wallace has an eye for gems as the third name he picked for the Superspeedways also has some great records to his name. It was Joey Logano, who is very well recognized for his significant performances and has four superspeedway wins to his name. The Mustang Dark Horse driver clinched victory thrice at the Talladega Superspeedway in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Logano drove his No. 22 Ford to victory at the Daytona 500 in 2015. Racing at an average lap speed of 181.947 mph Logano marked his first pole at the Daytona 500 in 2024.
