The African-American has made breaking the metaphorical glass ceiling a regular affair in his career. He is the first African-American NASCAR Rookie of the Year and the first African-American to win the NASCAR Truck Series in 50 years.
Wallace has also been a vocal activist, most famously for the Black Lives Matter movement. He began emphasizing the movement after the unfortunate murder of George Floyd in 2020. Bubba’s work led to a ban on flying the Confederate flag in NASCAR races.
For all his work as well as his great professional skills, he is a much-loved man among the fans. Leaning on that he was once asked in 2016 “What is the weirdest thing you’ve had to sign for a fan before?”
He thought about the answer for a while. Then said “Weirdest thing? Hmm. This is one of those questions where you know you get put on a spot and like after this interview is over with I’ll think of it. Now I can’t think of anything. Uhh, I signed a forehead before. That’s probably the weirdest thing.”
It has been 6 years since someone last asked him this question on record. A very high possibility he has some great answers now, especially since his fanbase has only grown since that time.
