The playoffs are just around the corner, and a few heartbreaks are due. Yet one driver still below the playoff cutline would have some good news to make up for it. Bubba Wallace stands 21 points below the cutline after Harrison Burton won the Daytona race last weekend. Even though the 23XI Racing driver’s playoff chances look slim, his household is getting ready to welcome a shining ray of light.
Wallace and his wife Amanda are almost five months into expecting a new member. And things are starting to get a little tense – Amanda is receiving physical signals from the new life growing inside her. That has put Bubba on the edge, as he recently admitted.

The NASCAR Cup Series community has witnessed some heart-warming events recently. During the long Olympic break, Tyler Reddick and his wife Alexa DeLeon got married in a quiet ceremony. But while Bubba Wallace and his wife regally appeared for his teammate’s wedding, he missed out on Daniel Suarez’s wedding in Brazil. However, there was a solid reason for that. Amanda Carter‘s belly was getting heavier, and undertaking such a long plane ride would have been risky.
Now other worries have surfaced in the household, as Bubba Wallace shared. On an episode of the Dale Jr Download, the 23XI Racing driver talked about his and his wife’s feelings. “Honestly, I’ve been super calm, cool, and collected about it. Amanda, she has been going through the ups and downs and just the excitement of motherhood for her. Feeling the baby kick…she loves it. She thinks it’s the coolest thing ever.” The name of this incoming bundle of joy is still a mystery.
Then Bubba Wallace could not help but admit that the rapid physical and emotional upheavals that his wife is going through have put him on the edge too. “She’s starting to feel some pain and some pressure in certain areas. And now she’s worried, like, ‘Oh my god. If I do one wrong move, the baby’s coming now.’ She’s overthinking everything. And for me, she’s like…she asked me a couple of weeks ago, ‘Are you excited?’ I’m like, ‘Look, there’s a lot going on right now. I will be excited when the little man is here.’ But imagining whatever…don’t get me wrong, it takes a lot for me to get excited.”

A high school romance is no small feat, and can take two extreme paths – either shatter soon or last happily ever after. Bubba Wallace and his wife are headed down the second path. The two high school classmates reconnected in 2015 when Wallace was pursuing his racing ambitions and Carter was in college. In 2016, their official love story began, and it has been a roller coaster ride since. From adopting their puppy Asher in 2020 to getting married with a champagne toast and a McDonald’s food truck at 1 AM, the couple have had adventures together.

“It’s special,” Carter said of their relationship in 2023, “We still reminisce or talk about things from the past. We just know so much about each other’s lives from so long ago.” Now another adventurous phase of their lives is afoot, and both Bubba Wallace and Amanda Carter are enjoying the ride as well as the unique physical experience. “We’re both enjoying the process…she’s grown strictly belly, that’s it. Hasn’t put on any other weight anywhere else. It’s crazy…which she says might change in the last couple of weeks. But it’s been awesome to see her grow and enjoy the whole process.”
The new bundle of joy may be all the motivation Bubba Wallace would need to up his game. Cracking into the Cup Series playoffs and welcoming his baby at the same time would be dazzling indeed!
