Recently, the Richard Petty Motorsports team revealed that Bubba Wallace could become a part-owner of the team. However, there were some rumors that Denny Hamlin is also an interested party. According to UNB! Sports, the team is also set to switch to Toyota as a manufacturer.
Initially, some suggested that NBA legend Michael Jordan could be involved as well. This is largely rooted in his friendship with Denny Hamlin, though it is mostly speculation and nothing concrete has surfaced as yet.
It is also worth noting that RPM will be associated with Joe Gibbs Racing. In the wake of this, they will field two cars, for 2021 and beyond.

Owing to the rules, Hamlin will find it difficult to own stake in RPM, while he races for another team. Interestingly, when Dale Earnhardt raced, he drove for Richard Childress Racing, despite a major ownership role in Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.
