Earlier, tragedy struck the NASCAR community when news broke that Wendell Scott Jr passed away. While his father became a trailblazer in the racing scene, Jr primarily worked as one of his mechanics. Obviously, he was well-known in the NASCAR community and the tributes poured in. 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace led the commiserations as he mourned Scott Jr’s demise.

His brother William Scott said in a statement, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Wendell Scott Jr. The son of Wendell Scott Sr and Mary Scott. We loved brother dearly and will miss him terribly. The funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date. We would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this challenging time.”

Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace confessed that he would miss texting him after each race. Apparently, the 23XI Racing driver met Scott all the way back in 2008 at the Franklin County Speedway. Wallace was especially grateful because Wendell Scott Jr helped him a lot in his career.
Bubba Wallace was not the only one paying tribute
Of course, Wallace was joined by several prominent figures who fondly remember Wendell Scott Jr. It is interesting to note that he also followed in his father’s footsteps and tried his hand at racing. That came in 1973 when he competed in three Grand National East races, with a best finish of 13th.

Admittedly, he was not as successful as his Hall of Famer father, but he had made a name for himself. Back in 2015, he made an appearance when Wendell Scott Sr earned a place in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In a way, Scott Jr could be credited with helping his father reach the success that he did.
Prayers for the Scott family.
